The 2010 Icebreaker Regatta is in the bag. Final results are not yet posted but essentially RCYC and NSSCO Athletes dominated the event. Top places went to Billy and Ian in the 49er, Second place went to Evert McLaughlin in the Laser and Tyler Meyrick in the Radial. From there the top ten was is also filled with our members. Nice job to everyone competing.

FRIDAY TRAINING
images
Just to let everyone involved in the training here at RCYC we are planning a full training day tomorrow. In the past a lot of our sailors have taken the day off before regattas like the ice breaker. We are not telling you that you can’t take the day off, we are saying that we will be here working with those that show up, it would be nice if you made it out!

AND THE BEAT GOES ON
GetAttachment-1.aspx
Training at the RCYC facility has continued after a very successful week of multi-class and multi-coach training. The wind today didn’t come in until later in the day thus proving that you can sail every day in Toronto, you just have to be willing to wait, sometimes for the whole day. So, here’s the question. Do you consider yourself a full time sailor (maybe just for the summer) if you’re not willing to wait the day out for the wind to come?

SUCCESSFUL WEEK OF TRAINING
The week of training was a huge success. The NSSCO and RCYC would like to thank all the coaches who participated in the training that was run from last Monday to Friday. The Radials were coached by OSA coach Murray McCullughy with Guest Coach Chris Cook on one day and Ashley Lethbridge another two days. 49ers were coached by Nigel Cochraine, RS:X were led by NSSCO coach Chris Cook working with sport psych expert Colin Guthrie. Lasers were coached by Dan Cunningham, Ken Dool and Murray McCullughy. Finally the Finns were coached by RCYC coach Oswaldo for the the majority of the days with guest expert Mike Milner joining in for the first day.
In addition to the coaching and training Evan Lewis has been working in conjunction with the Ontario Sport Center to develop a sport specific drink for the athletes to use in training and competition leading up to the Olympic Games.
This initiative was undertaken to provide a high level of training for the athletes in our program before they leave for Holland Regatta. We sincerely hope the training was a benefit to all who attended.

FULL SWING
SANY0185
The NSSCO and RCYC are in full swing this week working with Lasers, Radials, RS:X, Finn and 49er during the day and our youth groups on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Next week we are holding our May Days training week here with invited coaches and specialists. Perhaps this is the biggest initiative put forward by any training center to prepare athletes for the upcoming season. Many of our athletes will be leaving for Holland Regatta in the next two to three weeks and we are dedicated to making sure they are as prepared as possible.
